Green Stream, A Woman-Owned Business

Green Stream Technologies, Inc. is now a woman-owned business. Karen Lindquist, former COO now CEO, is excited to take on her new role at the company. Karen Lindquist and Jim Gray formed Green Stream in 2017 united by a shared concern about climate change and increasing flooding in their area. Jim’s multidisciplinary engineering expertise and Karen’s sales and business background have proven a winning combination: today Green Stream’s network of ruggedized remote sensors are stationed in hundreds of sites across North Carolina and Virginia. The company also has flood sensors in Delaware, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, and is poised to expand.   

“Green Stream is at an inflection point, and the choice to become majority woman-owned was strategic,” says CEO Karen Lindquist. “We are expanding our impact on communities primarily through the Government sector.. Being a woman-owned business makes Green Stream an attractive partner for our government customers.” As CEO, Lindquist will guide Green Stream’s direction as it scales up production and market reach. As Chief Technology Officer, Jim Gray now has the freedom to fully utilize his expertise in software and hardware engineering, IoT, and design thinking, and build out technology capabilities, all to deliver the best value for customers. 

Ever focused on the their core mission, Lindquist says: 

“By making environmental monitoring easier and more affordable, we are building resilience to flood disasters. With real-time situational awareness, early warning, and high-resolution data sets, communities and property owners of all budgets can better protect property and improve safety.”

In regards to becoming a woman-owned business, Lindquist adds, “what is less concrete, but nevertheless important, is joining the small but growing ranks of woman-owned, woman-led tech businesses. It sends a positive message to stakeholders, and contributes to leadership diversity in tech.”
