Description
The XL-MaxSonar-WRMA1 ultrasonic sensor is a “sonar range finder”. It sends a high-frequency sound wave to detect and localize targets. It measures the time it takes for the sound to bounce off the target and back to the sensor to calculate the distance between the sensor and the target.
The XL-MaxSonar-WRMA1 detects the largest signal return in its field of view, and filters out small targets and noise. It self-calibrates automatically. It does not include temperature compensation.
The sensor comes in a compact and robust gray PVC housing. It meets the IP67 water intrusion standard, meaning it can be briefly submerged. The housing matches standard electrical 3/4‑inch PVC pipe fittings. (Ask us if you need a different housing).
Applications
Green Stream uses this sensor for outdoor flood monitoring, tide monitoring, and general water level monitoring. We monitor water levels in lakes, ponds, reservoirs, streams, creeks, rivers, swamps, bays and inlets. We also monitor flood-prone dry areas - roadways, intersections, parking lots or dry creek beds.
