The City’s GIS/IT department had ten stream gauges they acquired in 2017 from a different manufacturer.
The City’s Emergency Management and Public Works depend on the gauge data during king tides and storm events to protect people and property, and to make infrastructure and mobility decisions.
The gauges utilized 3G cellular connectivity. The city knew that 3G would be phased out by their cellular service provider. Their staff did not have the electronics knowledge to upgrade the communications module in the gauges and they were worried they would lose access to the data. In addition, some of the gauges weren’t functioning properly and they weren’t sure why.
Green Stream’s electrical engineers and technicians identified the upgrade required, procured the necessary modules, and made a seamless transition to 4G. Green Stream also fixed the problems with the malfunctioning gauges.
Today the City is confident enough in its gauge data to share it with more user groups.
