Local News Spotlights Flood Warning Technology in Botetourt County

A local Virginia news segment recently highlighted flood warning technology deployed in Botetourt County through a regional resilience collaboration involving Green Stream Technologies, FloodMapp, and The Warn Room.

The project combines three important pillars of flood resilience:

  • Real-time situational awareness and ground-truth environmental data from field sensors and monitoring systems provided by Green Stream Technologies

  • Advanced flood prediction and modeling provided by FloodMapp

  • Timely, actionable warnings and emergency coordination supported by The Warn Room

Together, these systems help communities and emergency managers better understand rapidly changing flood conditions and respond more effectively during severe weather events.

Sensor data from the project is shared with partners including the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) and the National Weather Service (NWS) to support broader situational awareness and forecasting efforts.

The deployment was supported through a RISE Resilience initiative focused on improving flood preparedness and resilience across Southwest Virginia.

Green Stream is proud to support collaborative resilience efforts that connect communities, emergency managers, scientists, and forecasters with reliable real-time environmental intelligence.
